Luminescent x-ray materials are also called scintillators. Their job is to transform ionising radiation into UV or visible light. This property is used for imaging methods in medical and safety engineering (luggage inspection). Some of the materials are also used by detector makers for the detection of radioactive radiation.
LWB produces ultrapure scintillator materials based on GOS (Gd2O2S:Tb3+, Gd2O2S:Ce3+,Pr3+) as well as anhydrous rare-earth halides such as CeBr3 which our customers use to make ceramics, x-ray films or monocrystals.
